Who I am
Odd Duck Audio is the trading name of Paul Bell, a sole trader based in Scotland, United Kingdom. You can reach me at support@oddduckaudio.com.
These terms cover the website, the free plugins, the free trials and plugins you buy. By downloading, trialling or buying a plugin you agree to them. They don't affect your legal rights as a consumer.
Buying a plugin
- Plugins are sold through Link, part of Stripe, which acts as the reseller. Link takes the payment, handles sales tax and VAT, and sends your receipt. Its own checkout terms apply to the payment.
- Prices are set in US dollars and include any sales tax or VAT. Checkout may show the price in your own currency.
- After payment, your licence key is emailed to you, usually within a few minutes. If it hasn't arrived, check your spam folder, then email me.
What your licence lets you do
When you buy a plugin, you get a licence to use it, not ownership of the software. The licence is:
- Personal and permanent. It's for you, for as long as you like, for the version you bought and its free updates.
- For up to three computers at once. You can release a computer from inside the plugin and activate another.
- Fine for commercial work. Anything you make with the plugins is yours, to release, sell or license however you want. You don't owe me any royalties or credit.
You may not:
- share your licence key, or install the plugins for other people to use;
- sell, rent or give away the plugins or your key (if you'd like to pass a licence on, email me and I'll usually move it);
- copy, modify, reverse-engineer or get around the licensing, except where the law specifically allows it.
Free trials
Every paid plugin has a free seven-day trial of the full plugin, one per computer. When the trial ends, the plugin stays in your sessions but passes audio through untouched until it is activated. It never goes silent, and your projects still open.
Free plugins
Free plugins come under the same licence, at no cost. Please don't host or share the download files yourself; send people to the plugin's page on this site instead.
Refunds
If a plugin isn't for you, email support@oddduckaudio.com within 14 days of buying it, from the address you bought with, and you'll get a full refund. No questions asked. The licence key is cancelled when the refund is issued, so please remove the plugin from your computers.
At checkout you ask for the plugin to be delivered straight away. Under UK consumer law that ends the standard 14-day right to cancel digital content once the download starts. The 14-day promise above replaces it. Link may also handle refund requests sent to it directly.
If you dispute a payment with your bank, or a refund is issued, the licence key is cancelled.
If something doesn't work
The plugins are made with care and tested on the systems listed on each plugin's page, but no software is perfect. If a plugin is faulty or doesn't do what its page says, tell me and I'll fix it, replace it or refund you. Your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 apply in full, and nothing here takes them away.
Bug-fix updates are free. I can't promise that a plugin will keep working with every future version of every DAW or operating system, but I'll try.
Limits of responsibility
- Save your sessions and keep backups. Plugins run inside other people's software, and computers crash.
- I'm not responsible for losses that weren't foreseeable, or for losses from using a plugin for business, such as lost profits, lost work or missed deadlines.
- Where the law allows a limit, my total responsibility to you is limited to what you paid for the plugin concerned.
- Nothing here limits responsibility for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn't allow to be limited.
Ending a licence
If you break these terms, for example by sharing your key, I may cancel the licence. A cancelled key can't be activated on new computers.

How your email address and computer codes are used is explained in the privacy policy.
Changes to these terms
I may update these terms. The version that applies to a purchase is the one on this page when you bought. Changes won't take away anything you've already paid for.
The law
These terms are governed by the law of Scotland, and the Scottish courts can hear any dispute. If you're a consumer living elsewhere in the UK or abroad, you keep the protections of your own country's law and can bring a claim in your local courts.
